About Us

What’s during a Name
“Through the glass , things aren’t as they seem to be..”
This is never held such truth than when one looks at the various dogs in municipal shelters that are ragged, neglected, sick, injured, behaviorally challenged or otherwise “less than perfect.” Yet, when one looks past all that, what are often seen is an inner beauty just waiting to be recognized and nurtured into a healthful state. that’s what we are about – taking the foremost unwanted of the unwanted, seeing them not for what they’re but, for what they will be, dedicating the resources and therefore the love needed to form that possibility a reality.

In a nutshell
cute kittensLooking Glass Animal Rescue is an award-winning nonprofit volunteer-based animal welfare organization dedicated to rescuing animals from high-kill shelters, hoarding situations, puppy mills, animal fighting rings and more. While we welcome all animals in need, we specifically specialise in animals that are often overlooked thanks to age, breed, special need, illness or injury and regularly requiring immediate, often costly medical attention that shelters are unable to supply .

Without a rescue outlet, these animals would rather be euthanized thanks to their issues. glass Animal Rescue looks past these issues, seeing these animals not for what they’re today, but what they will become tomorrow – healthy, happy relations with plenty of like to give.

How does one define rescue? this is often a private definition, one that each person we encounter may have a special account . what’s shared across all viewpoints however is that animals in need of rescue, true rescue, are often people who aren’t “easily adoptable”, a minimum of not in their current state.

They might be sitting during a shelter, withheld from public view because they’re sick, injured or behaviorally challenged; they’ll be engaged on a sequence , starved of both food and love, thirsty and otherwise broken; they’ll be during a puppy mill, deformed, matted and otherwise exploited.

doggie bathThese are but a couple of examples but the commonality is painfully clear – they’re within the shadows, the “seen but not seen”, with stories that we only too soon would really like to forget…but WE can’t. WE won’t. These are the animals whose voices, goodbye ago taken, are so desperately in need of being heard.

How can we define rescue? We don’t discriminate. During a perfect world, there are not any “parameters” limiting who is in and who is out. It should only be about NEED. But unfortunately, we don’t sleep in an ideal world. Sadly, there are restricting factors that we face, all rescues face, and people are of “resources” – volunteer care-givers and money. So, while we’ll not constrain ourselves to only a particular quite animal, we might be negligent if we didn’t consider these two very real questions before welcoming an animal into our family:

Do we have the cash to support their medical and psychological needs, without limitation and,
Do we have the acceptable family for them to convalesce in, one that’s committed to doing whatever is required to urge them ready for his or her new life regardless of how long it takes?
Saving the sick, injured, overlooked and forgotten
